Created for Intercontinental Hotels Group, kits recognized with the “Benny†in 2009 Premier Print Awards

PORTLAND, Ore. (September 16, 2009) — XPLANE, a global information design consultancy, designed the instructional design launch kits for Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG), which were awarded the “Benny†in the 2009 Premier Print Awards, the graphic arts industry’s largest and most prestigious worldwide printing competition recognizing outstanding achievement in print production by the Printing Industries of America. The Benny, won in the category “They Said It Couldn’t Be Done,†was presented to printer Bennett Graphics of Tucker, Ga. at the award gala on September 13.

An international owner and operator of hotels with over 3,700 properties in 100 countries, IHG’s portfolio of brands includes well-known names like Crowne Plaza® and Holiday Inn Express®. While opening new hotels is a common practice for IHG, the company needed a program to uphold its hotel opening mission of delivering what hotel owners need, when they need it. The instructional design kits were created by XPLANE for new IHG hotel owners and contain all the materials needed to launch a hotel, including posters, phase booklets, process maps, milestone descriptions and digital documents in a convenient carrying case. The kits are customized by IHG brand to reflect the appropriate imagery and any specific milestones.

In its 60th year, the annual Premier Print Awards recognize those responsible for the creation and production of superior print communications. The event promotes excellence in print communications and rewards companies and individuals who produce the very best in print media. Over 3,600 entries were received in 2009 from printing and graphic arts firms from around the world, and judges awarded the Benny to the top entry in each category.
