Hmmm… “The Great Clip Art Battle is upon us. We’ve had clip art for several decades now, even before the arrival of the graphic computer. But not until we began to recognize that there was a new language emerging that tightly integrates words and graphics did clip art begin to appear to be worth paying attention to. My book, Visual Language: Global Communication for the 21st Century has fueled this battle. The visual components of the book were done entirely in clip art. I made clear my reasons for doing this in the Preface. ‘This book could have been rendered in a variety of aesthetic styles, but I decided to use clip art, to further demonstrate how much one can communicate with this medium without original artwork.'”
